Climate, the 360° Exhibition by BNP Paribas

Special guests and scientists attended the official opening of the exhibition last night, which is on display till December 20th* at BNP Paribas Concept Store in Sofia.

Climate change inevitably and more and more noticeably has a major impact on every sphere of life of people all over the world. It is therefore vital to improve our knowledge of our planet’s climate system and the disruptions taking place. This will allow us to assess potential consequences for our environment and to limit the negative impact of human behavior on climate. With this understanding, the BNP Paribas Foundation develops its dedicated Climate Initiative program since 2010. It aims at supporting research on climate change and sharing the latest data with wider audience in order to raise climate change awareness.

Climate, the 360° Exhibitionis produced as part of this dialogue. Based on the latest news and scientific data flows, it tells more about four major topics: results of climate observation; causes of global warming; forecasts by climatologists and preventive measures.

Climate, the 360° Exhibitionhas been on display in more than 15 countries around the world so far and comes to Bulgaria for a first time. The exhibition can be visited every working day till December 20th* between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at BNP Paribas Concept Store in Sofia.

At the opening event on October 30that the French Institute in Bulgaria, welcome speeches were given by Roumen Dimitrov, The Deputy Minister of Culture; Fabien Flori, Director of the French Institute in Bulgaria, Representative of His Excellency Éric LEBÉDEL, Ambassador of France to the Republic of Bulgaria; Prof. Julian Revalski, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Jean-Jacques Goron, BNP Paribas Foundation Managing Director, Antonia Novakowa, engineer, Head of Climate and Energy department of Sofia Municipality, Christophe Deroo, BNP Paribas Country Head. The event was also attended by Prof. Valérie Daux, Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (LSCE/IPSL, CNRS/CEA/UVSQ)and Julián Villamayor, post-doctoral researcher at Laboratoire d’océanographie et du climat (LOCEAN/IPSL, UPMC/CNRS/MNHN/IRD) - climatologists, researching the Hadley Cell tropicalcirculation, who presented their latest work.

Simultaneously, BNP Paribas, in partnership with the French Institute in Bulgaria, is organizing a thematic film panorama with a free entrance from November 5thto November 8th. Its program includes three exciting movies, telling more about Earth’s splendor, climate change and the relationship between men and the planet - Humans and the Land, Antarctica - White Lover and Chasing Coral
