IPSOS report: Predictions 2025

How was 2024 for you?

Our new survey finds 65% on average across 31 countries say 2024 was a bad year for their country. A high figure, yes, but it is actually down 5 points compared to last year.

The latest edition of our Predictions survey unveils the public’s assessments of these last 12 months alongside their forecasts for the year to come.

Key learnings include:

- A Shift in Sentiment: Despite global challenges, 65% perceive 2024 to have been a bad year, the lowest since 2019. However, optimism for 2025 has yet to reach pre-pandemic levels, when it typically stood at around eight in ten.

- Economic Outlook: While global economic optimism is on the rise, European countries remain cautious.

- Technological Regulation: Expectations that tech companies will soon face stricter regulations have increased from 38% in 2021 to 47% today, reflecting growing concerns around social media and the impact of technology on our lives.

- Environmental Challenges: Concerns about climate change persist, but expectations of stronger government interventions are not as prevalent as they were.
